The Start of A New Journey

In life things seem to pass us by so quickly, sometimes without us even knowing. But every now and again we get a jolt in our spirit to shift. Whether it is a job, getting healthy or moving to a new city, that feeling in the bottom of the gut is not to be ignored.

Today my dear friend sent me a text and simply asked, “What are you feeling about your move? The packing? The leaving your boo?”

This question sent me into a whirlwind of emotions and a cry uglier than Viola Davis in “Fences” when she found out Troy was cheating and having a baby. Yeah that’s right, snot and all. lol

Atlanta has made me into the woman of my dreams and for reasons I am still trying to completely figure out, I got a jolt in my spirit to leave.

Starting a new journey is never easy but is always necessary.

Us as humans, we love to be comfortable. Feeling all good and warm with all of the things, people and places that we are used to having around us.

“Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do.”

Jeff Olson, The Slight Edge

When starting a new journey, the thing that successful people do is get uncomfortable. When we remove ourselves from our comfort zone, this is when we get to see our true character surface. In the midst of adversity, how will you respond?

Right now, I am terrified. Inside of my controlled environment, I am the woman I have always strived to be. I get up most days and meditate, bust out some yoga, drink tea and spew affirmations and gratitude over everything. I feel good about myself, my diet and my overall life.

But what happens in the midst of adversity? What happens when it takes me longer to get to the gym? When my home is not quiet when I wake up? When I can’t just drive 20-30mins and get fresh organic produce at a decent price?

These questions are the very reason why starting a new journey can be so difficult. But here is the thing, you will never know unless you start.

You will never know if you can drink a gallon of water a day unless you start with drinking an oz.

So when you get that jolt in your gut to start…...GO! Just GO! Find out who you are in the face of adversity.

Being willing to do it scared and truly learn who you are when you get uncomfortable. This is what the journey is all about.

And in the midst of all the uncomfort and adversity.....Don’t forget to Make The Journey Fun!!
